Notes: St John's Anglican Church, at 353 High Street, Rangiora, initially a small church of timber, pit-sawn in the bush nearby, was opened in May 1860. The church was first enlarged in 1864 and is now the largest and oldest wooden church in Canterbury. The first incumbent was Archdeacon Benjamin Woolley Dudley (1805-1892), originally of Lyttelton, one of the "pilgrim" clergy.
